The Collar That Wouldn't Surrender.

Howdie..

So I've knitted the second full version of my collar.. I'm still not sure if I like it.. (Thus why the last stitch is being held by a safety pin:

So I'm still not sure if I like it.. it tends to want to stand up while I'm wanting it to lay flat... But I tell ya.. if I rip it out again I'm going to surrender and change to the "mock turtleneck" version..

But in hopes that this is the last collar I'm going to knit, all I need now is a zipper. I'm not sure if I'm going to get one very soon though.. so it may be a while before this thing is TOTALLY finished. Quite unfortunate.. but that also means I'll be able to move on to something else. I probably won't start anything big until my college semester is over.. (About two weeks.) and even then.. I'm not sure. I don't know what I want to make next.. Or what I'll have money for..

I hadn't really had any real trouble with this sweater except for the collar.. I'm still not sure why it was so hard.. but it had to do with picking up the stitches, getting the right number, and getting them even. I do wish that the pattern had said "Start picking up at the beginning of the zipper band" but it didn't.. (That was why I ripped it out after I got home, because I had started picking up where the original front panels started.)

The only other possible problem I can foresee is that the sleeves are a tad shorter than I'd really like them to be.. but if I wear it with a tanktop or otherwise tight fitting shirt under it, the sleeves hit me more where I'd like them to (I think. lol.) But really I'd like them to be an inch longer... Unfortunately if I wanted to really fix it I'd have to rip the collar out (again!) and somehow disconnect the sleeves, rip back on each one, and knit another inch into them. IE.. LOTS of trouble!!! So I think I'll just make do... unless I get REALLY bored one day or something.

Hopefully the whole zipper thing won't be too terribly hard.. but if I'm having trouble I'll probably just take it to a tailor to have them install it. And if they screw my sweater up I'll be sure to tell them how much the yarn cost to make the thing and they would have to reimburse me. Then ofcourse I'd have to knit again.. but it's better than nothing.

Probably the next time I post I'll have a zipper in hand.. (or.. a zipper order conformation. lol.)
