*Whew*

Aunt Faye has her gift.. I packed it up in a pretty gift bag (It had purple and blue flowers, and I used light purple tissue paper... A bit too much coordination? Maybe.. but ya know.. she enjoyed it.) I took it up to Thanksgiving (We have a family reunion up in Livingston, Tx) and gave it to her.. Unfortunately Mammy didn't make it so she still hasn't seen what she gave her own sister for her birthday.. but I have a feeling she'll be seeing it eventually.

Aunt Barabra (Aunt Faye's daughter) was pretty jealous.. she said she had planned on making Aunt Faye one of those things before and I beat her to it. HA! I win!!

But really.. Aunt Faye seemed to enjoy the gift.. she kept saying thank-you every time I'd run into her again.. and when she tried it on it really did fit her nice! I'm glad I made the right decision with the massive frogging.

I wanted to have a picture of her wearing it for the official "Finished Project" post.. but I unfortunately didn't remember to take my camera.. I even brought it in our luggage to dad's house.. and I just totally forgot about it when we left for the reunion.. Ugh!

I'm gonna ask Aunt Barabra to take a picture for me and send it to me.. I have a feeling she'll do it ; )

Heh.. After Aunt Faye tried it on she looked like she had been sat on by a large long haired cat.. She said that was ok.. but I thought it was amusing.. I even said "Now you know what my couch looks like"..lol.

I think she really liked it though.. I hope she gets to wear it!

So now all that's left is Melanies Mystery Gift Project.. and Aunt Karen's scarf.. (Of which I still have no pattern..) Does anyone know any good scarf patterns for Lionbrand Homespun? I know the LB site has some patterns.. but they're all boring : / I wish she had let me pick out the yarn... ugh.. Oh well.

I've resumed knitting on Melanies MGP.. I definitely have to get it done by Christmas.. I am not worried. Atleast I enjoy knitting it ; )

Hopefully pictures will be coming soon!

Tedium.. Thy Name is Fringe.

AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

It's done.... It is SO done.. I don't care if other people think it isn't done because it IS. It. Is. Done.

And I couldn't be happier.. I'll be even MORE happy when it is OUT of my house and in Aunt Faye's house.. because then it won't be getting fur on my couch and clothes anymore! HA!!

I win!!

But before I show you the finished product.. I must show you the massive frogging you missed.

This was just before the frogging.. if you can see it, yes that tape measure says 28 inches... and that was just for HALF of it... that thing would fit a line backer!!! Let us keep in mind that this is NOT a fullsized poncho.. this is a "capelet" whatever the heck that is.

Cry me a river.. Ugh it was so hard... I hate this yarn.. I really do. Ugh ugh ugh..

I feel ready to have a party.. I'm so excited that it's done!!! I even wove in the ends and everything! It's TOTALLY DONE!!!!

I just finished the fringe about thirty minutes ago.. I didn't know fringe was so awful and tedius.. but I guess that's what happens when you have 65 pieces of double yarn fringe to do.. Never again. Thankfully I used the cardboard fringe trick.. (You know, that one where you cut a piece of cardboard as wide as half the length you want the fringe to be, then you wrap the yarn around it like a fiend a bunch of times (65..but whose counting?) and then cut one edge of it and you get fringe!)

Now I just have to pack it up in it's special matching gift bag (Yeah.. I'm special like that.) and take it to Aunt Faye on Thanksgiving. I desperately hope that she likes it... and I even hope that she likes the (heh) gift of the two left over yarn balls that I'll be giving her with it. (Muah ah ah ah.)

Yessir.. I do sure love my Aunt Faye.

Now.. I can go to bed without worrying about this thing ANY more!! YAY!!!

(Who wants to party with me?)

Victory!!!

*Whew* <-- Big sigh of relief.

I.. just finished the knitting on Aunt Faye's gift.

I couldn't be any more relieved. After the frogging I was quite concerned that I wouldn't finish.. Turns out that frogging was the best idea I had.. cause the smaller size knitted up MUCH faster. My left thumb hurts but I don't intend to knit anything tomarrow so I think it'll be able to rest.

I tried the thing on and it's a bit big on me, but it didn't fall off my shoulders. This leads me to believe that it will fit Aunt Faye.

Brad says it's hidious.. and I dunno.. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I wouldn't wear it.. but I'm hoping real hard that Aunt Faye will like it. (Which is what really matters.)

Sorry that I don't have a knitting victory picture... Brad is on the other computer (with the camera cord.) so I can't get any out of the camera. This will soon be solved as my camera gadget is on it's way to me via UPS (Ugh.. I hate UPS.)

But anyway.. tomarrow I'll be finishing it up. Weaving in the ends (somehow.. I'm not sure even how to do it with this crazy yarn and pattern.) and making and putting on the fringe. The fringe'll be fun........ Right.

I'm gonna use that fringe trick where you cut a piece of cardboard the length that the fringe is supposed to be, and then cut along the edges. Or is that half the length so you only cut one edge? Yeah.. I think that makes sense.

Maybe I'll look it up before I whip out the scissors.

Anyway.. I feel as if a huge load is lifted off my needles.. I'm SO glad to get that stupid project finished..

All this just reminds me how much I love my Aunt Faye (and Mammy too.) if it wasn't for them I prolly woulda thrown the whole mess in the garbage can. Lol.

After I'm done with this thing I'll need to do some serious vacuuming.. This mohair-wannabe yarn has gotten hair ALL over the couch.. It reminds me of having a cat.. allthough I never had a long haired cat. I also have hair on my clothes.. Good thing I have a good lint roller.

Lets all hope Aunt Faye likes this thing.. I sure did work hard on it.

Look What Iiiii goooottt!

Well yes.. it has been a few days since I posted last... and I have some great news.. and some pretty darn bad news.. but I enjoy the good news first..

A beauty ain't it? And I just love my walpaper.. The oh so nice Nancy provided it for me.. I just love her Yarn Porn.. (Lol. I still laugh about that.)

One huge difference I'm noticing here is that when I'm typing in blogger my letters aren't lagging.. It really is somethin when you can type too fast for a computer. (Bonus: Less typos!)

I'm also able to edit pictures much easier.. unfortunately getting the pictures out of the camera isn't so easy as the USB cord is attached to our desktop PC.. and it doesn't like to come out and play. (Translation: Kim doesn't like to crawl under the desk to free it from the spaghetti of wires.)

But soon I hope to own one of these and all of my problems will be solved! (Well.. camera wise anyway. lol.)

Well... now for the bad news...

...There are 8 days until Thanksgiving... And...

I have to frog Aunt Faye's project.

...Yes... I said have to.. There is no saving it... it all has to go and it has to be redone.

...This could be suvere disapointment to my dear Mammy.. Who also mentioned paying me for my knitting efforts. (I thought it was cool of her to pay for the yarn.. but I didn't expect anything else.)

I'm hoping I can whip it out anyway.. I need a serious knitting miricle.. but the way it is right now just won't do.

For some reason it is coming out GIGANTICALLY huge.. I think two of Aunt Faye could fit in it the way it is now..

So my plan is to frog, and then reknit into the XS size.. which probably will turn out right..

I honestly don't think that it is my fault.. I think that this is a very badly written pattern.. (I know, what do you expect for free?) and there are certian elements that are left out that could be entirely useful to know..

"Gauge: 3 sts to the inch"

...A bit vauge aren't they? Is that "stitch" stockinette stitch? (Which I assumed) Or the pattern stitch?

And what about row gauge?!!

It also doesn't list any finished width measurment.. only length. How does that EVEN make sense?!

Ugh.. anyway.. I told Mammy that I absolutely didn't ever want to knit another one of these ever again.

Ps. I also have a backup plan... if I can't get this thing finished by Thanksgiving, I will be presenting Aunt Faye with a shawl I knitted as my first big project.. I've been wanting to give it to her anyway.. but she doesn't know that. (And I'm pretty sure I never got the chance to show it to her anyway.) Then when I get this stupid project finished I'll give it to her.

Pss. Does anyone have any tips for frogging a project in which two yarns were used? Wish me luck! (I really need it.)

Psss. I forgot the Sapphirey splendor!! Shame on me!

I Just Knew That'd Happen..

Birthdays wear me out...

My birthday lasted a whopping three days.. and I still haven't gotten the gifts my parent's promised me yet.. They both (on their respective days) took me to a place to pick out something and we ended up getting nothing. lol. Mom has promised me a piece of jewelery that is around 150-170 dollars.. Dad has promised me a laptop he is getting from his friend for free. But depending on what it needs he'll get me Windows XP and maybe a case for it and a wireless mouse. I told him I really needed a laptop for school.. so he's working on it.

Anyway.. the shining star of my birthday was my Husband.. he did SUCH a good job!! You'll be proud of him when you see what he got me:

His presentation was even good... We were going out to the dinner theater on Saturday (The mom birthday) and while I was still getting ready he put the first present in a bag for me and he took it with us.. It was the DVD.

I was happy to have it but I was pretty sure that I would get it.. we had been asking Hollywood video a couple times when they'd be selling the "previously viewed" ones on the cheap because I wanted it.

I partially consider this a knitted related gift because of the great knitting scene.. Hehee. Yarn barf.

Then when we got home from the theater he said he wanted to give me another present and he brought it to me and he said "See, I wrapped it myself!" Even though it was clearly wrapped by the Barnes and Noble people.. (Who else has specially cut wrapping paper with tiny books on it?) I thought that was pretty funny.

He did a good job on this book.. he said he was standing in the "crafting section" for a good 45 minutes trying to think of the one I would want.. He knew I had never even seen that book before and he looked through the patterns and thought I would like some of them.. He said it's a book that will grow with me because I can't do all of the things in it yet.

He is right.. he was being thoughtful.... He is so sweet.

Course.. this wasn't all he got me.. (I know.. I'm misleading) but the reason the third gift isn't in the picture is because I don't have it write now.. It's at the jewelers being re-sized. (Yes... I said jewelers.... Hee!) He got me a seriously gorgeous sapphire necklace with small diamonds in a white gold setting... It is SO pretty and mindbogglingly huge.. (Two.. and a half.. karats. Yes! TWO .5!) I still smile about it even though I won't have it for good till Thursday. The chain was a bit too long for me so they're shortening it.

To make that knitting related... I'm sure I'll wear it while I knit >: ) (And all the rest of the time too! LOL)

So yes.. I'm quite proud of my dear Bradley.. he did soo good.

Just to round out the gifts I also got a total of $61 from relatives... This may or may not be spent on knitting related items... I haven't quite decided yet.

So anyway.. I've been knitting on Aunt Faye's gift for a few days now.. I have some progress to show.. and... Aunt Karen has decided she must have a scarf now..

The green yarn is the yarn Aunt Karen bought for her scarf... It doesn't feel so good and I've knitted with it before... I'm hoping to find a scarf pattern that isn't insanely and mind bogglingly boring to knit it with but I don't think I'll be able to... She may have to settle for garter-stitch : / On the upside that cute little bag came from her too.. When she came over for my birthday she had it as her purse and I said "I want that!" (Meaning that I want to know where I can buy myself one.) but I didn't know that she was giving it to me till last night when I got home from work.. it was in the bag she left here with the yarn in it. I consider it payment for knitting her scarf.. >: )

So that project for Aunt Faye.. it's not going horribly bad.. but I think I'm gonna have to tell Mammy that I absolutely don't want to knit another one.. I don't particularly like the yarn (both together) or the pattern that well.

I'm still nervous about the color combo too.. I'm not sure if it's just ugly or if I just don't like it because it's not my taste.

Here's a closeup:

I just don't know.. I would have preferred that the purple be darker.. I think that would look better... but who knows.. Aunt Faye might just love it the way it is..

On a totally random note.. The Yarn Harlot book is fabulous... I think it is SO funny! If you haven't read it yet.. you should!

So.. now I'm 21.. and I didn't drink a drop of alcohol.. Yeah.. I'm such a rebel ; )

PS. When the necklace is here... I'll post a picture of it just so yall can see the sapphirey splendor of it ; )

Don'tcha Just hate it when "Life" Gets in the Way?

I know.. it's been a while.. and I'm not even here to talk about knitting (much.).. I'm here to fill your eyes full of excuses.. because that's just the way it's gonna be..

I did infact swatch for Aunt Faye's project.. and when I was satisfied that I was on gauge and got a good look at how the fabric is gonna turn out.. I did cast on her capelet.. I'm even on the last row of the edging..

But then Monday came and I got horribly sick.. AND I had to go to work.. and this kind of project isn't very portable.. I can't imagine trying to keep two different balls of (very strange) yarn wrangled in my lap in an office chair.. it just isn't doable.

I read about half of my Yarn Harlot book.. and I knitted about 3 inches of my Ribby2 sleeve.. (Yes.. I'm still on the first sleeve.. hush up.)

Oh.. and on Monday I just thought I was sick..

Then Tuesday came... and I hauled my Nyquil drugged butt outa bed and went to the doctor.. I apparently have a Sinus Infection.

Not wanting to get Aunt Faye or other relatives sick.. I stopped knitting on her project.

Then Wednesday came and I was even SICKER!!! Augh!

But I couldn't stand not knitting anymore so I broke out the Twine (A-la Grumperina) and knitted my mom a coaster.

Then yesterday my antibiotics decided to play a dirty.. dirty trick on me and cause me all day long problems in the restroom. Not pretty.

And now we're at today.. and I feel better today.. I'm still coughing and sneezing some but I can tell it's letting go finally.

...But..

I'm still trying not to knit... because you see... my birthday is on Sunday.. and having divorced parents means that birthdays are not just one day.. This time my birthday is going to last till Monday night.. (And start Saturday afternoon.) but in order to fully enjoy this long birthday weekend I must get my butt in gear and do (and submit) all the school assignments that are due on that Monday.

*sigh* I know... I know..

On the brighter side of things I am seriously plotting and scheming up a way to get that Traveling Cables Cardigan pattern in my knitting bag... I want it so bad but I am not willing to pay 5.50 to ship the darn thing..

I'm so cheap.

I miss knitting : / but I really gotta stop procrastinating and get working on that school work..

Maybe.. Just maybe.. I will have some knitting related birthday gift coming my way.. and you will for sure hear about it! (Even if I have to buy it myself! HA!)
