-Kimmish Ode To "Weird Al"-

I have been a fan of Weird Al's since... gee... ummm... *thinks*.. Since I was 7... geez!! 11 years! *Dies*.. heh.. anyway.. what most people wanna know about when they hear that I'm a fan is the time that I actually MET him.. yes.. yes I did.. on St. Patrick's day of 2000.. I was very very much into Al back then.. All I listened to, watched, and read about was all him.. and that year I knew he was touring but since he harldy ever comes to Texas I was quite bummed.. but then they came out with Weird Al LIVE!.. and I figured that'd be my ONLY way to see the concert.. so I bought one.. and happily watched it over.. and over.. and over.. and then maybe a month later I was looking at the site and one of the tour dates came up.. "HOUSTON!!".. WOO!!!!!.. So I made mom get on the phone RIGHT then and had her order the tickets... I was hoping for front-row.. but we weren't quite swift enough.. we did get "Floor level" though.. so that was good.. Anyway.. the night after it all went down I wrote out everything that happened... so... I'm here to take you back.. waaay back.. to March 17th, 2000. Oh... and please note... I was young and teenagerish back then... and it's gonna sound like it.. lol.

**WOOOSHH!!!** (Dig the special effects!..lol.)

Howdie!!!!

I just got back from the most amazing time of my life, it was totally, OH MY GOSH! hehee!!!! I will run down the events in time order, HEHE! here we go!

Ok, at about 7 pm me, my mom, and my brother got in the car and were on our way to the theater, we were listening to Metallica the whole way there, and at about 7:45 we pulled into the parking garage. Then we walked up the stairs up to the theater and we stopped to buy our Weird Al shirts and my brother a drink (hes 17 incase youre wondering) Then we go to find our seats, Theyre playing 80s music over the speakers, and thats alright, so anyways,

The opening act comes out at about 8pm, and hes a comedian, he was pretty corny, but he had some funny jokes, not many though, hehe

Weird Al FINNALLY comes out, and I didnt look at my watch, so I cant tell the exact time, but anways, he comes out and sings "Gump" which totally rocked, I sang with Weird Al and totally made a fool of myself (I did this through the whole concert, hehe) Being 4'5" I had to stand up or I wouldnt have been able to see anything, so after that song Weird Al belts out "ARE YOU READY TO POLKA?!?!?!" and we all shout YEAH! and he starts his most recent polka medly, it was realy funny cause he found clips of all the videos of the songs in the medly and played them on the huge video screen and they went fast enough to meet up with Weird Als singing, it was soo funny! Ok, so then he does his parody of one week "Jerry Springer" and I really got into that one, hehe, well, I was into all of em, but I never thought I could keep up with all the words, but amazingly enough I did, hehe, then he sings "My babys In Love with Eddie Vedder", then the next song is up and its "The Night Santa went Crazy" and snow comes falling down from fans at the top of the roof of the place.. it was a very cool efect, next up was, umm, was, damn, I forgot, I gotta look it up now. lol, OOH YEAH! how could I forget "Dare to be Stupid" this song was the first costume change, The whole band comes out in yellow vinal suits and swimming goggles (to look like Devo) and it really rocked, thats one of my favorate songs. My brother actually got into that one, hehe, Next up was "Its all about the Pentiums" I could hear my mom laughing at that one from behind me (the ticket people screwed up our seats, *sigh*) My mom isnt a Weird Al fan, but now after the concert she seems like she is, anyways, Then Weird Al comes out in a red smoking jacket and starts singing "One More Minute" As he's singing he comes out into the crowd and a few lucky people get silk scarves that are "sented" by Weird Al (he gets his sweat on them or whatever, it was funny) and one extreamly lucky person gets silk red boxers that are pulled out of Weird Al's pants (he wasnt wearing them, they were just in his pants) too bad I didnt get the boxers eh? hehe.. So, next up is a Medly of some new Weird Al songs, and some classics, the first 2 or 3 were songs that he coulnt get approved like "the toppings will go on" (about a pizza delivery boy) and some other songs.. and then after the medly comes "Smells like Nirvana" it really rocked, me and my brother were head banging.. heh... then Weird Al comes out in a "Fred Flinstone" outfit.. hehe.. it was very cool, and sings "Bedrock Anthem".. then comes everyones favorate "Omish Parodice" and Al gets the crowd to wave their arms, it must have looked really cool from the stage.. then Al goes back stage and gets in the 'fat suit' comes back out and sings "Fat" and really blows the roof off the place.. and this 'suposidly' was the last song of the show, so he gave credit to the guys in the band and said bye.. but then after some movie clips and things he comes out in his "Alican" suit (from starwars Epi. One) and sings "the Saga begins" I had my super lighter (the kind that you light Bar B Q pits with) and Ruben came out, and I was waving it, and he points at me and the whole crowd turns around.. hehe.. So Weird Al starts the song.. and then comes my personal favorate "Yoda".. he really, really had a good time with that song, and at the end of it all he says "THANK YOU, I LOVE YOU ALL, GOODNIGHT!" and then the band walks off stage.. hehe..

I really wanted an autograph, so I went to one of the security people and asked them about it, he told us to go back behind the place and wait by the band bus for Al and the band.. so thats what we did..

Ruben came out first, and then Steve J. I got Steve J to sign my shirt, I told him he was cool and he goes "You're cool too" hehe.. he has a very cool voice by the way.. and then a little later Jim West and Jhon Bramuda Swartz came out, and they both signed my shirt.. they're very cool dudes.. and after almost two hours of waiting the security people tell us all to get in a single file line so we could meet Al and so he could sign our stuff.

So we got in line and waited for a little while, and finnally.. it was my turn.. I hand Al my shirt and say "can I have a hug?" and he goes "SHURE!" and while I was huging him I say thank you, and he goes "No, thank YOU" hehe.. it was very cool, and his hair smells quite nice.. hehe.. While hes signing my shirt my mother tells him that I was very excited when he answered my question on the montly Ask Al thing on his website, and he goes "Really?! Which one?!" so I tell him what my question was about.. it came out something like this "uh.. it was the one about 'I want a new Duck' and about the joke about the elephant" and hes nodding and smiling and he goes, "So, do you get it now?!" and I say yes and then my time was over.. so I had to go wait for my mom who was getting my ticket stub signed (we could only get one autograph a piece).. so after all the excitement..

We were waiting for Ruben cause I hadnt got his autograph yet, and he was the only one I had left, so he finnally comes out again and he comes over and he goes "Do yall have a marker?" and we shake our heads no, so he goes "sorry.." and was quite a jerk about it.. and later he comes out again and we actually have a marker this time and then he says he has to leave.. we werent very happy about it, but all in all that wasnt that bad..

Jim West (the gutarrist in the Weird Al band) Came out to sign some more stuff, and he begain handing out some gutar picks, and then he had two left (grey ones) and he goes "Ok, these two are special, so I'm keeping these" and I hadnt got one yet, and I looked down and made one of thoes sad puppy dog faces and he goes "aww.. here" and he gave me one! I was very grateful.. hehe..

This has to be the best day of my life so far.. and it will take something HUGE to replace it.. it was just amazing and I'm still letting it all sink in.. so.. I'm gonna go now because my fingers are hurting terribly! BYE BYE!

So there you have it.. It seems like SO long ago to me.. mostly because I've changed so much in the past few years (and my spelling is SO much better!)... it's... yeah... kinda surreal.. anyway.. I remember some other things.. like on the way home when I nearly made mom have a wreck.. lol..

Durring the whole concert and meeting him and everything I thought I'd be realy nervous.. and I was.. but you can't really tell outwardly.. cause when I get nervous/excited I smile alot and respond when spoken to.. and I don't really.. realize.. whats happening.. it takes a while to sink in after it's all happened.. and in the car on the way home it happened..

"I.... HUGGED.... WEIRD AL!!!!!!!!!!".. I screamed at the top of my lungs and mom nearly had a wreck... lol........... Matthew (my brother) said something like, "You're just now realizing that..?"...

Amusing stuff... heheheh..
